Premature infants diagnosed with Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS) often require early surfactant therapy to support lung function. Current international recommendations encourage minimizing mechanical ventilation whenever possible and favor the use of CPAP with early rescue surfactant administration.

For spontaneously breathing infants on CPAP, the LISA (Less Invasive Surfactant Administration) technique is increasingly becoming the preferred approach. To support this technique, surfcath™ was specifically designed for surfactant administration using LISA.

Unlike traditional methods that often require Magill forceps for catheter placement, surfcath™ utilizes a thermosensitive, semi-rigid catheter that can be shaped prior to use, helping clinicians follow airway anatomy more easily during placement.

Key Design Features

Soft Pre-Curved Distal Tip

The 2 cm black distal tip is soft and pre-curved to follow the natural anatomy of the airways. This design helps reduce the risk of tracheal lesions while minimizing the possibility of catheter kinking.
